Who we are
This website is dualcoredba.com, a personal technical blog. The site is hosted on WordPress.com, a service provided by Automattic Inc. As the site owner, I am the data controller for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
This site is a static source of educational content. It has no facility for visitors to leave comments, submit forms, or upload media. The site owner has no interest in or intention of profiting from advertising or from the sale of visitor data to third parties, and deliberately designs the site to collect as little information about visitors as possible.
Because the site is hosted by Automattic (WordPress.com), Automattic also processes visitor data as a data processor acting on behalf of the site owner, and independently as a data controller for their own purposes. What data is collected and why
The site owner does not directly collect or store any personal data and has deliberately disabled the Jetpack Stats feature to avoid analytics tracking of visitors. This site sets no analytics or tracking cookies. The site owner does not independently track, profile, or monitor individual visitors.
As this site is hosted on WordPress.com, Automattic automatically collects certain technical data as part of providing and maintaining the hosting infrastructure. This includes standard web server logs recording basic request information such as IP addresses, browser type, and pages requested. In addition, Automattic’s hosting platform automatically loads a performance monitoring script on every page load. This script sends a beacon to pixel.wp.com containing technical performance metrics about how the page loaded in the visitor’s browser — including page load timings, Core Web Vitals measurements, and the visitor’s browser timezone. Automattic have stated in their Cookie Policy that their services use web beacons for statistics purposes. In a WordPress.com community forum thread, a WordPress.com support helper responded that this script does not collect personally identifying information and exists solely to enhance and maintain performance on the hosting platform. The site owner cannot independently verify this claim beyond the data visible in browser network inspection tools, and notes that the script is not specifically documented in Automattic’s Visitors’ Privacy Notice. This is a platform-level feature of WordPress.com hosting that the site owner cannot disable on the current hosting plan.

Lawful basis for processing: Technical data collected by Automattic as part of hosting and performance monitoring for this site is processed on the basis of legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) — specifically, the legitimate interest in maintaining a functioning, secure, and performant web service. The site owner does not carry out any independent processing of visitor personal data.
Cookies
This site uses one cookie, which is strictly necessary for the cookie consent mechanism to function. Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent under PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003).
